This year will see consumers in the US do more of their Christmas shopping online than ever before, one expert believes.

Online retailers that offer free delivery may appeal to shoppers who are seeking to cut back on their fuel bills by reducing their journeys to shops, according to Jeffrey Grau, senior analyst at eMarketer.

Adobe unveils searchable flash technology


Adobe has provided an insight into its new technology which is designed to improve the searchability of Flash and AJAX-based content.

The technology known as Ichabod presents a Flash player without a user interface, InfoWorld reported.

Kevin Lynch, chief technology officer at Adobe, said at the AJAXWorld RIA Conference & Expo that greater steps need to be taken so that content can be revealed to search engines.

Brands advised to use SEO during a crisis


Businesses should make use of search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay per click methods to minimise the effects of a crisis associated with their brand, a report says.

A brand should move quickly to ensure that its own version of events is at the top of the search rankings, according to Kim Benjamin, writing for BrandRepublic.

It is suggested that brands need to have an SEO programme in place before any crisis occurs given that natural search results can take months to achieve - which means acting only after the crisis emerges may be too late.
